Dua Lipa Wins Best New Artist at GRAMMYS 2019

She won the award over H.E.R., Jorja Smith, Margo Price, Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, Bebe Rexha, and Greta Van Fleet
According to a report by Pitchfork.com. The British pop singer Dua Lipa has won Best New Artist tonight at the 61st Grammy Awards. She takes home the award over H.E.R., Jorja Smith, Margo Price, Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, Bebe Rexha, and Greta Van Fleet.
In her acceptance speech, Dua Lipa alluded to outgoing Recording Academy President Neil Portnow’s infamous “step up” comments at last year’s Grammys. She said: “Where I want to begin is by saying how honored I am to be nominated alongside so many incredible female artists this year because I guess this year we’ve really stepped up?” Watch below.
Dua Lipa released her self-titled debut in June 2017. The record includes Lipa’s hit single “New Rules,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition to Best New Artist, Dua Lipa was nominated for the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for “Electricity,” her collaboration with Mark Ronson and Diplo.
